MONDI VIRTUALI, SOCIAL NETWORK E REALTA' AUMENTATA

Tema di questa conferenza sono i mondi virtuali e la realtà aumentata. In particolare si cercherà di capire come gradualmente si sia arrivati a un'ipertrofia generalizzata. Oggi non basta più vivere una vita sola e ci si crea anche un'identità virtuale. I paesaggi urbani devono essere moltiplicati grazie agli strumenti della augmented reality, che sovrappone ulteriori scenari a quelli che vediamo coi nostri occhi. Le opere d'arte vanno lette anch'esse considerando la stratificazione di commenti e di significati che le compongono e si fa strada la corrente del postkitsch, che condensa un gran numero di riferimenti.
Stesso discorso per la comunicazione, che diventa sempre più ricca e complessa, declinata su diversi media e su vari livelli.
In generale aumenta grandemente la possibilità di scelta: ci si trova davanti a moltissime opzioni e spesso si è invitati a comporre da soli il contesto, come se si dovessero scegliere gli ingredienti per una pizza. Allo stesso modo, si potranno modificare anche luoghi con una propria unicità, come il Duomo di Milano o il Centre Pompidou: cambieranno a seconda di come li si vuole vedere, e chi sta vicino a me non li vedrà necessariamente come li vedo io. Quindi la possibilità di scegliere e di modificare lentamente si estenderà a tutto. Si potranno cambiare notevolmente le percezioni delle cose.
Quindi tale discorso implica due elementi fondamentali: la possibilità delle cose di essere percepite in modo diverso (cambiando colore, sensazione tattile, suono) e il conseguente grande ampliamento delle opzioni possibili, destinate tra l'altro a dar vita a una moltiplicazione esponenziale delle riproposizioni in chiave artistica di oggetti e manufatti non ci saranno più solo foto del Chrysler Building, ma foto del Chrysler Building rosso, blu, verde, rugoso, liscio, ecc.
Parallelamente, si coglie un grosso lavoro sulla comunicazione, che da un lato insegue le migliaia di variazioni sul tema della realtà aumentata, e dall'altro lato ne genera essa stessa.

VIRTUAL WORLDS, SOCIAL NETWORKS AND AUGMENTED REALITY

The topic of this conference is virtual worlds and augmented reality. More precisely, we will try to understand how we have gradually arrived at this generalise hypertrophy. Today is not enough to live a single life and we create another, virtual identity. In the same way, urban landscapes are multiplied through augmented reality, which adds an increasing number of scenarios to those perceived by our eyes. Art works too are to be ‘read’ taking into account the stratification of comments and meaning they are made of, while the post-kitsch trend, with a large number of allusions, is growing in strength.
The same happens with communication, that becomes richer and more complex and changes its meaning depending on its different levels and on the media employed.
On the whole, we have more freedom of choice: we have different options and we are often asked to create the context ourselves, as if we had to choose the ingredients of a pizza. Similarly, we will be able to modify those places that are in themselves unique. Places such as the Milan Cathedral or the Pompidou Centre will change according to the personal tastes of each of us, and the person standing beside us will not see them in the same way we do. Therefore, the possibility to choose and modify will slowly expand to everything around us, thus deeply changing our perception of it.
This implies two fundamental elements: the possibility to perceive differently what we see (since it has a different colour, texture or sound for us) and the resulting broadening of the possible options, whose aim will also be to allow an exponential multiplication of the artistic version of objects and artefacts: beside the photos of the Chrysler Building there will also be photos of a red, blue, green, rough or smooth surfaced Chrysler Building.
At the same time, there is clearly an important work on communication, that on the one hand tries to track down the thousands of variations on the topic of augmented reality and on the other it generates them itself.
