Introduction

The following exhibits represent two different examples of projects created by women in Second Life. Those activities are continuously in progress and show specifically are commitment in the educational field.

ECCE FEMINA

The aim of the art show "Ecce Femina" is to take pictures of the different roles that the Woman, as a female entity, has gained through historical, social and cultural events. The project was born and developed thanks to the synergic collaboration of very active people in SL such as artists, poets, builders, scripters (mostly women). That attempt had an additional aim, that is, making a group of women work together in SL to design and develop their own project. Following this example a number of female teachers began playing an active role in SL in Italy reaching a further objective: the development of an Educational Tool Exhibit designed to show other teachers that working with technologies is possible also for women, young teachers and more experienced ones.

EDUCATIONAL TOOLS

The opening of the educational exhibition "Environments for Learning and Teaching Tools in SL" was organized by the group of participants in the course about Secondlife ( Level I and II) run by SecondAnitel (http://slurl.com/secondlife/Galleria/77/75/3501) There was a joint effort by the e-tutors Lisa Tebaldi and Gioacolo Maximus and the e-tutor Corderosa Loire who worked with a group of Italian participants in a European teachers’ training course.

The exhibition is an example of how you can use 3D virtual worlds for learning. Students and teachers in RL, have built in a few months virtual objects for teaching and learning. A lot of teachers worked in that exhibition: Astra Martian, Anna Begonia, Scorpio Burt, Junta Kohime, GMSTino Starostin, Fabrizia Karillion, Nicomarti Karu, Maira Lisa, Eleonora Porta, Corderosa Loire, Lisa Tebaldi. This exhibit will be organized again next year.
